The MITRE Corporation (“MITRE,” “we,” “our,” “us”) respects the privacy of its MITRE Food Waste Tracker App (the “App”) users. By using our App, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions, you may contact us using the information provided at the end of this Privacy Policy.

This App is primarily intended for use by individuals who are interested in learning about their household food waste patterns. If you choose to establish an account on this app, you will provide an email address which will be stored by our App vendor, Dom & Tom, Inc.® and used solely for establishing your account. We may share the information you enter into the App with Dom & Tom to provide you access to the App across devices. To obtain more information on Dom & Tom’s privacy practices, please consult their Privacy Policies. None of the information you provide on food waste will be shared with other parties.

Our Retention of Your Data

MITRE will  retain your data for no longer than is necessary to achieve the purposes for which the personal data was collected, or as may otherwise be permitted or required under applicable law. Unless otherwise required by applicable law, at the end of the retention period, we will anonymize or securely destroy this data.

Security

MITRE maintains reasonable safeguards designed to protect information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. MITRE employs encryption technologies and other procedures that are designed to keep data secure. Nevertheless, transmission via the Internet and online digital storage are not completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of your information.

Individuals using our App to independently track food waste on their own may contact us at privacy@mitre.org regarding questions about our privacy practices.

If you are downloading and using our App from outside the United States, please be aware that the information we obtain may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions. Please be aware that the data protection laws and regulations that may apply to your information transferred to the United States or other countries may be different from the laws in your country of residence.
