The MITRE Corporation (“MITRE,” “we,” “our,” “us”) respects the privacy of its MITRE (the “App”) users. MITRE does not collect personal information that directly or indirectly identifies individuals who download and use the App. By using our App, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions, you may contact us using the information provided at the end of this Privacy Policy.

This App is primarily intended for use by individuals who have agreed to participate in a conducted by MITRE and Gallup, Inc.®. If you are a participant in this study, we may share the non-identifying information you enter into the App with Gallup and another partner, Dom & Tom, Inc.®, for the sole purpose of conducting this research.When downloading the App, for example, study participants will be asked to provide an 8Gallup will use this number to associate the non-identifying data collected through the App with survey data it collected from you with your consent.

Although MITRE is not collecting personal information though this App, our research partners may independently collect personal information during other aspects of the research study. To obtain more information on these partners’ privacy practices, please consult their respective Privacy Policies and any other notices they may provide to you during the research study.

Prospective users who are not participating in this study may find it helpful to download and use this app to independently track food waste. Again, our App does not collect personal information and none of the information you provide on food waste will be shared with other parties.

Our Retention of Your Data

MITRE will  retain your non-identifying data for no longer than is necessary to achieve the purposes for which the personal data was collected, or as may otherwise be permitted or required under applicable law. Unless otherwise required by applicable law, at the end of the retention period, we will anonymize or securely destroy this .

Security

MITRE maintains reasonable safeguards designed to protect information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. MITRE employs encryption technologies and other procedures that are designed to keep data secure. Nevertheless, transmission via the Internet and online digital storage are not completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of your information.

If you are participating in MITRE’s Food Waste research study, you may email the research team at fw.support@mitre.org at any time if you wish to Individuals using our App to independently track food waste on their own may contact us at privacy@mitre.org regarding questions about our privacy practices.

Information for Visitors from Outside the United States

MITRE is headquartered in the United States. If you are downloading and using our App from outside the United States, please be aware that the non-identifying information we obtain may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions. Please be aware that the data protection laws and regulations that may apply to your information transferred to the United States or other countries may be different from the laws in your country of residence.
